Running in the heart of Switzerland
2017 will see the fourth edition of the Wings for Life World Run. The motto is the same as before: We run for those who can’t. It’s not a matter of fitness at all. From absolute beginner to competitive runner, from wheel chair athlete to power walker: Anyone is invited to be part of the run.
The goal of the event is to raise money for the Wings for Life foundation who expedites spinal cord research. One hundred percent of all entry fees go towards projects that all have one common aim: One day, there has to be a cure for spinal paralysis.
The registration is possible at the accreditation booth. You will receive your bib number at the accreditation booth at Sportstrasse 91, 4600 Olten. The office is open as follows:

There are no parking facilities in proximity of the starting line. There is an official parking area (Olten Süd/West) that is signalized at the bypass Olten and can only be reached via this bypass. The walking distance from the parking area to the starting line is approximately 10 minutes. The parking fee is CHF 10.- (keep the exact amount on hand).
There is a 15-minute walk from Olten train station to the Stadthalle (approx. 1.5 km, the road is signposted).
At 1 pm, all participants around the world will start the Wings for Life World Run.
The allocations of the blocks are listed in our recommendations. Everybody is allowed to change his or her block in order to run with friends/family.
Arrows mark every single change of direction. As long as there are no arrows, keep running straight on. Every kilometre is marked.
Every approx. 5 kilometres, there is a bus stop from where shuttle buses drive back to Olten. If the Catcher Car passes a participant between kilometre 8.5 and 14, he/she has to walk back to the Stadthalle.
Paramedics are positioned both along the route and in proximity of the starting line.
The Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the participants. At 1.30 pm, the mobile finish line will set off – the comedy duo “Edelmais” will be driving the car.
If the Catcher Car, acting as mobile finish line, passes you, the run is over. In this case, you just walk to the next bus stop. Approx. every 5 kilometres you will find a bus stop where shuttle buses will bring you back to the Stadthalle Olten. If the Catcher Car passes you between kilometre 8.5 and 14, you will have to walk back to the Stadthalle.
Until when can I register?
4 May 2017, 1 pm
Can I register at the event?
Yes, at the booth where the bib numbers are distributed.
These entry fees include VAT. The revenues from the entry fees go entirely into the Wings for Life fund.
All participants have to be at least 16 years of age. Wheel chair athletes and runners start side by side in the same race. Sole provision: Wheel chair athletes have to use their everyday wheelchairs for the race.
Important note to everybody: It is not allowed to wear earphones during the run because runners thus risk not hearing the catcher car approach.
