The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the virtual Catcher Car. Now in its fourth year, on May 7, 2017 Wings for Life World Run participants in Boston can run via the APP! Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run APP and join all the other people running around the beautiful Boston Esplanade until the virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 7:00 am local time. The virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at roughly 10 miles per hour and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of the Wings for Life World Run entry fee and any donations go directly into spinal cord research projects.
The Wings for Life World Run in Boston starts on 7 May 2017 at exactly 7:00 am local time.
Our track for the virtual run will be a 5 miles loop along the Charles River starting at DCR's Hatch Memorial Shell.
More info coming soon.
The APP RUN in Boston is free of charge.
On 7 May 2017 wheelchair participants and runners start side by side at the Wings for Life World Run - APP RUN Boston. All participants start together – just like it should be! The only requirement: wheelchair participants have to start in everyday wheelchairs.
You will receive your personal race number via email and it’s also available next to your starting number on the website a couple of days before the race.
The Wings for Life World Run APP is your time tracking tool. When you are registered the APP will start automatically on the event day.
The virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start and as soon as it overtakes you you will get a sound signal and your phone will vibrate.
Please make sure to have a fully charged phone on race day.
Red Bull product and water will be provided at the DCR Hatchshell meeting point.
We are proud to have Social Boston Sports, Yoga Around Town and Boston Run Club as partners.
