Wings for Life World Run start: 7th May 2017
Run will be held in Poznan - it is a metropolis of half a million, well connected with major cities in the country and in Europe. It has a reputation of the running city. One can find here the most prestigious running events in Poland. Now, let’s all start here for those who can’t.
Wings for Life World Run in Poznan is open for all participants who are: 16 years old or more
Wings for Life World Run Poznan gives a chance for the wheelchair particpants to take part. They start in the same group as runners and are in the same results category.
Entry fee: 120 PLN. 100% of entry fees will go to Wings for Life Foundation.
COLLECTION OF STARTER KITS
Starter kits can be collected in the Race Office located in the Malta complex (the so-called “multimedia building” nearby the camping, entrance from the Krancowa Street).
Race Office opening hours:
May 5, Friday – 4 pm – 9 pm
May 6, Saturday – 10 am – 9 pm
May 7, Sunday – 8 am – 11 am
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO COLLECT A STARTER KIT
In order to collect your starter kit, make sure you have your ID with you.
If for some reason you can’t collect your starter kit personally, grant your friend a written authorization to do it for you, together with a copy of your ID and a signed disclaimer, which is available at www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com in the Poznan location page (click here). There is no possibility to receive the package by post.
Wheelchair participants can count on individual help in the Race Office. At 7th May there will be a technical control of the wheelchairs arranged before the start.
ON SITE REGISTRATION
Provided that the participant limit isn’t reached – people willing to take part in the run will be able to register on site, in the Race Office, during its opening hours.
In order to reach the Race Office as well as the starting line, we recommend using public transportation. The Wings for Life World Run Village can be accessed via Krancowa Street.
Car owners can use paid parking spots located near Termy Maltanskie and near the New Zoo (Krancowa Street). Only disabled people will be allowed to access the Wings for Life World Run Village by car, through the technical gate marked on the map (Krancowa Street).
CHANGING ROOMS / SHOWERS / DEPOSITS
All changing rooms, showers and deposits will be located in the building by the starting line.
Toilets will be located within the start area as well as along the course, near refreshment stations. Toilets will be adjusted to the needs of disabled participants.
The run will begin at Malta (the square in front of the new stand, pozbruk paving).
SCHEDULE – MAY 7, 2017, SUNDAY
11:30 - 12:00 – team meetings with the leaders (in the grassy area next to the Race Office)
11:45 - 12:30 – admittance to the appointed starting boxes, according to the info received in the Race Office
12:30 – group warm up in the starting boxes
13:00 – start of the Wings for Life World Run
Refreshment stations will be located along the course at approximately every 5km (5,5/11/16,2/21,6/26,9/32,1/37,5/42,5/47,6/53/58,4/63,5/68,5/73,7/83,7/88,4 km)
Participants will be offered: water, isotonic drinks, bananas, chocolate, Red Bull Energy Drink.
There will be toilets nearby the stations.
Moreover, paramedics will be available in the vicinity of the refreshment stations.
The Wings for Life World Run has no classic finish line. 30 minutes after the start, a Catcher Car will start the chase. Once participants are passed by the Catcher Car, they are out of the race and should proceed to the closest bus provided by the organiser, which will take them back to Malta, to the Wings for Life World Run Village.
RETURN TO MALTA
Participants will return to Malta (to the Wings for Life World Run Village) by dedicated buses marked with the event logo – the bus stops are located near the refreshment stations as well as along the course. Additionally, there’s always one bus driving behind the Catcher Car, and the participants can also use it to go back to the start. All buses are adjusted to the needs of wheelchair participants.
After returning to Malta by bus, we invite all participants to the start area where they can collect their medals.
We invite everyone to the new stand by the starting line, where starting from 11 o’clock spectators will be able to watch live broadcast of the run on a big screen. The event will be hosted by Pawel Januszewski and Krzysztof Loniewski, with music support. Live commentary of the Wings for Life World Run in Poznan and all over the world will be provided by the Race Director Adam Klein. People gathered at Malta will also have a chance to meet our Ambassadors.
The event is expected to end around 5 pm.
