Running has changed Lemawork's life, maybe even saved it... © Philip Platzer for Wings for Life World Run
When Lemawork Ketema started at the first Wings for Life World Run in Austria in 2014, nobody knew his name. On the 4th of May 2014, it has just been a year since Lemawork escaped the difficult conditions in his home country of Ethiopia and came as a refugee to Austria.
Today, the 31-year-old Wings for Life World Run Ambassador is an Austrian citizen and has arrived amidst the world elite of long-distance runners. Recently, in mid-April, he finished sixth at the Marathon in Linz, with a time of 2:14:35, and has thus earned his ticket for the European Championships, held in Berlin this August. On the 6th of May "Lema" is starting for the fifth time at the run in Austria.
Here's his inspirational story!
