Imagine running with more than 150,000 people from around the world at the same time, all with one common goal: to find a cure for spinal cord injuries. This is the guiding principle of Wings for Life World Run, the largest race on the planet, whose national seat for next year will be in the Brazilian postcard, the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Global success, this year's competition was attended by runners and runners from 189 different nationalities and managed to raise 6.8 million euros (about 25.5 million reais) to the foundation Wings for Life, from the full amount paid by the inscriptions, 100% dedicated to scientific research.
But next year promises even more! On May 6, 2018, the flowers of the cerrado will give way to the blue and green of Cariocas, and the runners will face the infamous "catcher car" under the eyes of Christ the Redeemer.
Everyone! Athletes of all abilities can race at Wings for Life World Run. Beginners, weekend runners, elite runners and wheelchair users with a conventional wheelchair.
You can sign up in any of the participating cities around the world or on your own track (or treadmill) using App Run so you're never left out!
The world champions will be the last man and the last woman in the world to be reached by the catcher car, respectively. Each country will have a national champion and everyone who participates is already a winner for supporting such a noble cause.
