The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the virtual Catcher Car. Now in it’s sixth year, on May 5, 2019 Wings for Life World Run participants in Canada can also run together in Dunnville. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 07:00. The virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 15km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.
Join Pauly Plewa and #RunAgain771 as they log kms for #TeamCoast2Coast. The team is uniting Canadians to log 5550km across Canada on May 5th. Runners will depart from the Dunnville RCAF Museum in southern Ontario and run along the former Dunnville Autodrome race track located on the museum property.
Red bull, water, juice and Gatorade will be offered at the refreshment stations. We will be celebrating the end of the race with a champagne and deli breakfast for all those 19+. There will be food trucks on site as well.
Once everyone has completed their race we will be hosting a Cars&Coffee car show for a donation of $50 or more. 100% of the donations paid and money raised will go directly to the Wings For Life foundation. Every penny will be accounted for. Selected cars and drivers will be allowed to spin some laps in their cars on the same racetrack that was run on that morning. There will be several race teams with their cars present to put on a demonstration of what it takes to be a race car driver and how well built their cars are. Anyone at the event is welcome to sit in the passenger seat and go for a ride along in some of these high powered machines! Passengers will get to feel the vibrations and g-forces and get to smell the burning rubber of going around the track at top speeds.
On May 5, 2019 wheelchair participants and runners start side by side at this track. The only requirement: wheelchair participants have to start in everyday wheelchairs.
