More than 100.000 runners and wheelchair participants in more than 200 locations in 66 countries have passed 934.484 kilometers. Wings for Life World Run has shown once more that unity breaks all the boundaries. With three million euros gathered in one day and directly donated to spinal cord research, this event is on the path to change the world.
This year’s global winner has demonstrated once again that it is possible to surpass own boundaries. Aron Anderson from Sweden is the global winner for the second consecutive time, with 89.95 kilometers passed - in the wheelchair. With heart full of love and the will of the steel, Aron managed to earn another great achievement in his life.
Nikolina Šustić has made the entire world dance in 2015 when she won her first Wings for Life World Run at Zadar, with 48 kilometers under her feet. Year after she took few more steps and ran 50 kilometers, which has positioned her as first in the Norwegian race. Last year, she was running away from the Catcher Car in Great Britain and won again with the 55 kilometers passed. On Sunday, May 6th, she got herself a new, fourth consecutive victory and with 53.73 kilometers and second position in the global order demonstrated her domination in the women competition.
The race in Zadar has shown once again that love and unity are the best motivation to take youa few steps across your boundaries. In the category wheelchair participants, victory was taken by Ivica Habuš who made it to the point of 22.34 kilometers and Tatjana Varga who met the Catcher Car on14.83 kilometers.
Karl Aumayr had a magnificent 68 kilometer run and by getting on Šibenik bridge set the record of this track. He dedicated this race in Zadar to his children.
The fifth winner of the Croatian race was Slovakia's Martina Burzova who finished her race at 32km.She said that love was the emotion that kept her going and that track in Zadar had all - good people, nice time and beautiful view. She devoted this race to Krystof, for whom she hopes to get out of the wheelchair one day.
Wings For Life World Run 2018 set a new checkpoint towards finding a cure for a spinal cord injury. Today, Zadar has shown that the biggest steps are those done by the heart, and that dreams become easy to catch when we are together.
