DEFENDING GLOBAL CHAMPION CALLS ON YOU TO SIGN UP TO THE 2019 WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN

02/05/19

Defending Wings for Life World Run champion Aron Anderson is calling on you to play your part in this year’s event.

The wheelchair athlete, who also doubles up as an ambassador, wants as many people as possible to line up for the race at 11am UTC on Sunday 5 May to help find a cure for spinal cord injury.

Anderson, who was diagnosed with cancer as a child and has been in a wheelchair since then, says: “That’s why the Wings for Life World Run is so important to me as it raises so much money for research for spinal cord injuries.”

Back in 2018, the Swedish athlete beat more than 100,000 participants to be crowned the run’s global champion after covering a distance of 89.85 kilometers before being caught by the Catcher Car, 13 kilometers further than his next closest competitor.

Now in 2019, he wants to see even more competitors on the various start lines around the world. He explains: “I really want to encourage you to do something for this movement, sign up for the run and get your friends to sign up for the run, you can create a team together with them or maybe you can create an App Run for where you are at.

“But do something. Go on the Wings for Life World Run website and see what you can do to help spread this message and raise a lot of money. Because it’s important. Let’s do this together and thank you so much for your help.”
