Maribor Football Club (NK Maribor) is the first Slovenian club to support Wings for Life World Run and establish its own team named “NK Maribor”.
Maribor Football Club. The pride of the city, Styria and, thanks to the achievements on the European scene, also Slovenia. Rich history intertwined with success. At times there were some less pleasant moments, but the club overcame those obstacles. With immense energy, violet passion. On the field and in the stands. Simply put: One club. One honour. This motto became recognizable and rooted in the minds of both players and fans.
The club is 12-times national champion (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), it has won eight Cup titles (1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2010, 2012, 2013), and four Super Cup titles (2009, 2012, 2013, 2014). Besides stocking countless home trophies, the club also succeeded in leaving a mark on the European map. As two-times UEFA Champions League participants in years 1999 and 2014, the club created a state of euphoria of incredible dimensions. The club achieved three good placings at UEFA Europa League (in years 2011, 2012, 2013), along with several interesting qualifying duels since 1992.
The club does not intend to get tired of trophies. Maribor Football Club goes on. Towards new challenges, with strong foundations. There are no coincidences in football. All club’s successes are the result of hard, systematic work, which the club does not deviate from.
Known for its humanitarianism, the club decided to support the global run and contribute to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
