Preparations are underway for the sixth annual Wings for Life World Run charity event on May 5, 2019, and Runtastic is along to boost motivation with every stride.
Salzburg, Austria – Organizers are pleased to announce that Austria-based Runtastic has joined the movement to find a cure for spinal cord injury by becoming a global partner for the 2019 edition of the Wings for Life World Run. The partnership brings together two strong and enthusiastic participant communities, offering them fresh opportunities to build excitement and motivation, no matter where they are, both in training and on race day.
The Wings for Life World Run is an annual global charity event that brings the entire planet together because all participants start simultaneously, whether it’s day or night, with the goal of raising money for the not-for-profit Wings for Life Foundation. The format is fun and unique, with a “Catcher Car” that chases runners as a moving finish line, and 100 percent of entry fees and donations going to fund spinal cord injury research. Since the first edition in 2014, the Wings for Life World Run has drawn more than 500,000 runners and wheelchair participants from 193 nationalities to take part at event locations or with the Wings for Life World Run App in more than 66 countries across all seven continents.
About Runtastic: Founded in 2009, Runtastic has rapidly grown into an innovative suite of apps, content, and services that track and manage health and fitness data to motivate individuals to get in shape, stay healthy, and improve overall fitness. In August 2015, the company was acquired by adidas Group.
With more than 263 million downloads and 138 million registered users, Runtastic’s mobile apps track distance, speed, pace, duration, heart rate, calorie consumption, and route traveled (via maps) when running, biking, or engaging in other fitness activities. The results can then be viewed directly within the app and also on Runtastic.com, where users see their online training history, get detailed data analysis, and compare their progress with others.
So what’s new thanks to this collaboration? The Wings for Life World Run and Runtastic are planning a variety of opportunities and activities to motivate their communities to run together on May 5. One of the advantages is a shared login function that enables participants to use the Wings for Life World Run App with their Runtastic login for added convenience as they train, run, and connect with others in the global movement. Also, Wings for Life World Run participants will have the chance to take part in the Wings For Life World Run Challenge, a new feature within the Runtastic app, to really crank up their motivation. The best part is: these features are easy to use, because the interface of the Wings for Life World Run App won’t change – participants will simply have the added bonus of being able to use their Runtastic account to enjoy a more complete running experience.
