Tavira, Portogallo

The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. On Wings for Life World Run participants in Portugal can also run together in Tavira. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 12:00:00. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.

Formosa Running Club is back for the Wings for Life World Run, and this year we're moving off the Salinas trails and onto a flat, paved route so more people can take part.

We start together at Café Formosa in Tavira and follow the Ria Formosa out to Quatro Águas and back. That loop is about 3km, and you keep going round as many times as you like until the virtual Catcher Car catches you in the app. There's no finish line. The car just keeps getting faster.

Every pace is welcome: running, jogging, walking, buggy or wheelchair. You don't need to be fast. You just need to show up. 100% of entry fees go to spinal cord injury research.

The route uses roads and paths that stay open, so keep to the footpath where there is one and look out for traffic and other users.
