What is the Wings for Life World Run?

The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. On May 9, 2027 Wings for Life World Run participants in Austria can also run together in Red Bull Ring. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 13:00:00. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.

Track

You are running on one of the most advanced race tracks in the world. At the Red Bull Ring, where F1 and MotoGP stars usually start their engines, you set the pace. For the first few kilometres you run directly on the race track. From the start-finish straight, the route leads to the Niki Lauda turn and up through the Münzer turn towards the Interwetten turn. You've made it! You've conquered the strenuous uphill section and as a reward, you get a unique view of the race track and the Murtal landscape.

Along the Schönberg straight, you have the opportunity to catch your breath a bit. After that, you run downhill through turns 4, 5, 6, passing the giant Bull of Steel before reaching turn 7. If you know the Red Bull Ring, you're aware of the track's characteristics – accordingly, the route leads slightly uphill again towards T8 and the Jochen Rindt turn.

If you're still in the race at this point and haven't been caught by the virtual Catcher Car, you can be very proud of yourself. You leave the Grand Prix course for the second lap at turn 10. Passing by the Welcome Center, the route goes over the Kart Track to the West Loop. Along the outside of the Schönberg straight, the path continues along the T4 grandstand, through the forest section down to turns 9 and 10.

The course is wheelchair accessible.

For more challenging climbs, it is recommended to rely on support.

There are refreshment stations where you can rehydrate.
