Hallein Burgfried, Austria

The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. On May 10, 2026 Wings for Life World Run participants in Austria can also run together in Hallein. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 1:00:00 PM. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.

Route Course & Distances

Start (FDZ / Kletzlgutweg 2-6) to the end of Ahauserweg: Run from Kletzlgutweg onto Ahauserweg and follow it in a southern direction until the end.

Bauernbräuweg: At the end of Ahauserweg, turn left into Bauernbräuweg and run eastwards (towards Adneter Riedl/Autobahn) until you reach Bruderlochweg.

Bruderlochweg ("Return"): Run back in a northern direction along Bruderlochweg. The path runs parallel to the hillside/motorway. Follow this path until the turnoff (left) into Bürgermeisterstraße.

Bürgermeisterstraße & Wolfgrubweg: After turning into Bürgermeisterstraße, switch to the traffic-calmed Wolfgrubweg. This path leads diagonally through the residential area back towards Ahauserweg.

Ahauserweg to Start: From the end of Wolfgrubweg, run the final section along Ahauserweg/Kletzlgutweg back to the FDZ.

Total Distance The total length of this running route is almost exactly 5 kilometers.

Profile Surface: Predominantly asphalt.

Elevation: The route is mostly flat. There may be slight undulations only in the Bruderlochweg area, as it runs along the foot of the Adneter Riedl, but there is no significant elevation gain to cover.

Character: Pleasant residential loop, partly traffic-calmed (Wolfgrubweg).
