The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. On 10 мая 2026 г. Wings for Life World Run participants in Germany can also run together in Garching bei München. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 13:00:00. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.

This App Run event is organized and hosted by the Athletics Department of VfR Garching 1921 e.V. The exact course layout is still being finalized, but the current plan is as follows (as of Jan 6 2026)

• Course length: approx. 4.5 km with an option to shorten it to approx. 2.5 km
• Course layout: loop course with an out‑and‑back section and a lap around the Garching Lake on the northeastern edge of Garching
• Surface: asphalt and gravel
• Aid stations: at least one refreshment point on the loop
• Wheelchair accessibility: we are working on it, not yet fully confirmed
• From 11:30: event start with supporting program (music, refreshments to be confirmed)
• 13:00: race start … until the Catcher Car gets you :)
