The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. On 10 мая 2026 г. Wings for Life World Run participants in South Africa can also run together in Gqeberha. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 13:00:00. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.

The race starts from Hobie Beach, opposite 2nd Avenue. Participants will head east along the footpath towards the lighthouse, enjoying the scenic coastal views.

After approximately 1 km, the route turns left towards the sea, followed by a sharp left onto the next footpath, guiding participants northwest. As they approach Sharks Rock Pier, participants will continue along the footpath past the lively restaurants, towards Bayworld and alongside Humewood Beach.

At the 3 km mark the route turns left onto Main Road, where participants run back towards Sharks Rock Pier, keeping to the left lane. On reaching the Boardwalk / Sharks Rock Pier intersection, participants turn left again, heading towards the sea along the right-hand side of the road. A final right turn onto the first footpath leads directly to the finish area. The route is a lap course of approximately 5km.
